Moving Into the Post Season
.
As many students move into November, they begin to think about the end of the semester and stressing over projects, papers, and exams. However, for the athletes at Sage, November means something completely different. November means post season; a time to show their teams true colors and a time for redemption against conference rivals.
This year, both soccer and volleyball have earned bids into the Skyline Conference Playoffs.
Soccer will have to face Mount Saint Mary, the squad that handed the Gators their first conference loss of the season. The team is fired up and ready to take on the Blue Knights in the Skyline Conference showdown this week.
The Gators have definitely improved since the beginning of the season, and are looking to hand the Blue Knights a loss, so they can propel themselves further into post season play. If the Gators defeat MSMC, they will play again Thursday; if they win that game, they will be looking at the Championship game this-coming Saturday.
On Wednesday, volleyball hosts the Panthers of Old Westbury in the first round of Skyline Tournament play. The Gators defeated Old Westbury two weeks ago and are looking to keep their level of play up so they can earn a spot in the semifinals at NYU:Poly on Saturday.
Earlier in the season, the Gators dropped a heartbreaker to NYU:Poly, and are hoping for a chance to play them again.
“We really want to win on Wednesday, because that will give us the chance to redeem ourselves against Poly on Saturday,” said senior captain Kellie Jones.
The Quill wishes both the soccer and volleyball teams the best of luck as they continue to work hard this season and progress through post season play!
