RSC Commuter Board looks for students eager to be informed and represented.
There are approximately 840 undergraduate students at Russell Sage College and about 370 of those students commute. In response to these numbers, the college re-established its Commuter Board.
“The main goal of the Commuter Board will be to connect commuting students to one another and to the college,” said Diane Angrisano, Coordinator of Student Development and Campus Programming. This student-run board wants this large percentage of students to be represented in and informed of events at Russell Sage.
This year, the Commuter Board is being completely reconstructed. The former Commuter Board President graduated last May and they will be holding elections for officers this week. After the officers are elected, the Board plans to write a club charter.
“We are having our first meeting today so it is a bit early to discuss the goals that this group will set for this year,” said Angrisano. This new construction of the Commuter Board could hold new opportunities for ambitious commuter students, or interested resident students. The charter, the offices, and all of the events and activities are open to new opinions.
Board meetings will be held in the new commuter lounge, located on the first floor of Gurley Hall. The new lounge has two computers, a big screen T.V., comfortable furniture, and an area that can serve for a meeting place or study group.
“The lounge is a space for studying, resting and visiting with other commuter students. We plan to hold some activities in this space such as the commuter board meetings,” said Angrisano.
If you are a student who is interested in helping to shape the Commuter Board, please e-mail Diane Angrisano or Kaitlyn Erdle at commutersrsc@sage.edu.
