Troy Waterfront Farmers Market
Written by Breanna Pascale
As part of my New Year’s resolution I decided I wanted to eat healthier. I not only want to eat healthy, but eat from locally grown places. What that entails is getting my produce and other food items from local farmers. I decided to venture over to Troy’s very own Waterfront Farmers Market. As soon as I walked in I fell in love. There were local musicians playing, aromas of fresh bread, and amazing people who have the same idea as I do.
The market is a four seasons place. The hours of operation are 9 a.m.-1p.m. During the winter months specifically November thru April it is held in the Uncle Sam Atrium on Broadway at 3rd and 4th. The summer months May thru October and is located at Riverfront Park.
With over fifty venders to choice from it is hard to say who and what was the best. There is everything from produce, meats and dairy, jams and jellies, knitted clothing, breads, and condiments. My favorite locally produced item can be found at http://www.buddhapesto.com/ Buddha pesto tantalizes my taste buds. I found myself walking past the booth a few times for a sample.
I recommend going to the Farmer’s Market. Bring cash and an empty stomach. Every vendor has samples. It is a great start to a healthier life style, and you will be supporting our local farmers, and handmade vendors.
