January 31, 2010

Troy, NY- Seven Russell Sage students have been selected to represent The Sage Colleges in the 2010 National Conference on Undergraduate Research at the University of Montana. This conference is aimed at promoting the scholarship and creativity of students through presentation. It also offers future graduate school and employment opportunities to attending students.

The NCUR, unlike many other student research conferences, is open to a wide range of disciplines from the performing arts to biomedical to social sciences. Those students representing The Sage Colleges have submitted entries from the fields of biology, English, philosophy, and criminal justice.

In 1987, the NCUR began hosting student researchers around the country. Three years later, The Sage Colleges began selecting attendees for the NCUR through Russell Sage’s own Kathleen A. Donnelly Center for Undergraduate Research.

“Since 1990 Sage has sent more than 100 students to NCUR, representing more than a dozen departments and programs,” noted Dr. David Salomon, director of the Donnelly Center.

Next year’s National Conference on Undergraduate Research is to be held at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. If you have an interest in submitting research for next year’s event please visit http://www.sage.edu/centers/dcur/ and contact the Donnelly Center for Undergraduate Research for assistance with your entry.
