Farmingdale spoils Gators’ perfect Skyline run

Troy, NY— The Sage Colleges women’s basketball team hosted Farmingdale State College in a Skyline Conference contest in the Kahl Campus Center. Both teams entered the contest with a perfect record in conference play and by game’s end, the Rams remained the unbeaten team. Farmingdale State tallied a 71-58 victory to improve to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the Skyline Conference, while Sage drops to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the league.

Farmingdale led 32-16 at the break as senior guard Kimberly Blakney (Brooklyn, NY/Benjamin Banneker) exploded for 24 second-half points. Blakney finished with a game-high 28 points and added nine rebounds for the Rams with eight steals. Blakney hit 11-of-20 shots she attempted for the Rams. Senior guard Kamaya Miller (Brooklyn, NY/Midwood)added 14 points for the Rams.

Sage’s junior guard Jessica Byerwalters (Coeymans Hollow, NY/Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk) finished with a double-double as she added 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Sage’s rookie forward Kara Hackett (Peru, NY/Peru Central) also had a double-double with her 12 points and 10 rebounds, six steals, four assists and a block.

Sage returns to action on Saturday, December 9 travelling to Mount Saint Mary College for a 6 p.m. league contest, while Farmingdale State College faces Yeshiva University in another Skyline Conference game that same night with an 8 p.m. tip.
