The Not So Top Plays of the Fall
.
If you have been following the sports column throughout the semester, you know that the focus has been on highlighting the success of Sage Athletics and keeping you updated on the teams’ records; this article is going to do the complete opposite.
Drum roll please! Here are the fall’s unlucky seven: the worst plays/events of Sage Athletics.
#7 A recurring problem for the tennis team seems to be Ceddric’s hair.
#6 The soccer team got new uniforms this year. With the exception of Laura Tisinger, everyone on the team was excited to wear them for the first time at their game. It turns out when they got to the game and we’re getting ready, Laura didn’t know why her jersey was so different; she had no clue that the team had gotten new jerseys! Luckily, one of her teammates let her borrow hers for the day.
#5 At the first-ever volleyball games held at the Kahl Gymnasium at SCA, the crowd rose to salute America with the playing of the National Anthem. Well, during the gym’s remodel, someone forgot to put the flag back up…needless to say America wasn’t saluted that day.
#4 The volleyball team travelled to WNEC for a non-conference match, just as they were ready to leave, they found out they’d have to wait over an hour. The bus was stuck in a ditch.
#3 Amanda Potter’s teammates set her up for a perfect shot on goal. Everything looked great, and it looked like the Gators were going to score. Potter wound up for a strong kick that would have been right in line for the goal…that is if she didn’t miss the ball!
#2 The volleyball bus driver had the right idea watching a movie on the bus as they Gators dropped a heartbreaker to NYU: Poly. After the game the volleyball team wanted nothing more than to go home, but the bad luck continued: it was more than four hours before they could leave Brooklyn…the bus driver killed the bus’s battery while he was watching the movie.
#1 Amanda Potter put the ball in the net for the third time of the season..too bad it was for Clarkson.
Don’t forget, Sage Soccer will be hosting Kickin’ for the Cure on Saturday, October 31 at Siena!
